Component Description

Active grill shutter is installed to air inlet of front bumper facia. By operating the active grill shutter 1 actuator and active grill shutter 2 actuator according to signal from VCM, shutter 1 and shutter 2 are opened and closed to control amount of air flows into motor room.

System Description

While driving, active grill shutter system closes shutter to reduce air flow to motor compartment for the purpose of reducing aerodynamic drag, and as a result, improves power consumption efficiency of Nissan Ariya vehicle.

VCM detects vehicle condition based on signal from each unit, and controls active grill shutter 1 and active grill shutter 2. Also, when VCM receives electric compressor ON signal from A / C auto amplifier, active grill shutter 2 is fixed in the open position. VCM transmits a calibration signal and operation signal to each active grill shutter via LIN communication. Active grill shutter activates calibration of active grill shutter based on signal of VCM.

Active grill shutter actuator has self-diagnosis function, and when an abnormality is detected, an abnormality detection signal is transmitted to VCM, and VCM stores the abnormality of active grill shutter.

DESCRIPTION OF MOVEMENTS

Active grille shutter is fully open when key switch is turned OFF.

When key switch is turned ON and vehicle speed reaches the specified speed for the first driving, the VCM closes shutter and learns initial position of shutter. Once the learning is complete, VCM activates shutter according to Nissan Ariya vehicle conditions. (Initial position learning is performed every time key switch is turned OFF and then ON.)

In order to prevent shutter from being unable to open due to resistance of running wind during high-speed driving, shutter is opened when Nissan Ariya vehicle speed exceeds the specified vehicle speed.

Vehicle is decelerated and shutter is opened below the specified vehicle speed.

Active grill shutter 2 is fixed in the open position when electric compressor is turned ON.

NOTE:

• If even one condition to open shutter is satisfied, initial position learning may be executed even if Nissan Ariya vehicle speed is less than 20 km / h.

• VCM may perform initial shutter position learning under other diagnosis conditions.

ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER 1 OPERATION CONDITIONS

VCM closes active grill shutter 1 when any of the following conditions is satisfied.

Even when active grill shutter 1 is operating (closed state), VCM opens active grill shutter 1 when any of the following conditions is satisfied.
