C1601-16 Battery Power Supply

DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

Confirmation Procedure

PRECONDITIONING

  1. Pull the parking brake switch.

    NOTE:

    Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.

  2. Power switch OFF.

  3. Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.

  4. Wait 65 seconds or more.

    NOTE:

    • Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.

    • If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake switch indicator on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

GO TO 2.

DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE

With CONSULT

  1. Power switch ON.

  2. Perform self-diagnosis for “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”.

Is DTC “C1601-16” detected?

YES>>

Proceed to diagnosis procedure. DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

Check power steering control module power supply circuit. DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair / replace harness, connector, terminal, fuse, or fusible link.

CHECK TERMINAL

Check the power steering control module terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace the power steering control module. EPS CONTROL UNIT : Removal & Installation .

NO>>

Repair/replace harness, connector or terminal.

C1604-96 Power Steering Torque Sensor

DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

C1604 96 TORQUE SENSOR Diagnosis condition When power switch is ON.
Signal (terminal) Power steering torque sensor signal
Threshold When a malfunction is detected in power steering torque sensor.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

With CONSULT

  1. Power switch OFF to ON.

  2. Erase self-diagnostic results for “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”.

  3. Pull the parking brake switch.

    NOTE:

    Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.

  4. Power switch OFF.

  5. Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.

  6. Wait 65 seconds or more.

    NOTE:

    • Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.

    • If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake switch indicator on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

  7. Set the Nissan Ariya vehicle to READY.

    CAUTION:

    Never drive the vehicle.

  8. Perform self-diagnosis for “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”.

Is DTC “C1604–96” detected?

YES>>

Replace the power steering control module. EPS CONTROL UNIT : Removal & Installation.

NO>>

INSPECTION END

C1615-4b Overheat

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE SIGNAL (1)

With CONSULT

  1. Set the Nissan Ariya vehicle to READY.

    CAUTION:

    Never drive the vehicle.

  2. Turn steering wheel from full left stop to full right stop.

  3. Select “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”, “Data monitor” and “Assist level” in this order. Values On The Diagnosis Tool.

Dose the item in “Data monitor” indicate “99%”?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

With CONSULT

  1. Power switch OFF to ON.

  2. Erase self-diagnostic results for “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”.

  3. Pull the parking brake switch.

    NOTE:

    Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.

  4. Power switch OFF.

  5. Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.

  6. Wait 65 seconds or more.

    NOTE:

    • Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.

    • If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake switch indicator on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

  7. Set the Nissan Ariya vehicle to READY.

    CAUTION:

    Never drive the vehicle.

  8. Perform self-diagnosis for “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”.

Is DTC “C1615-4B” detected?

YES>>

Replace the power steering control module. Refer to EPS CONTROL UNIT : Removal & Installation.

NO>>

Check terminals and connection of each harness connector for malfunctioning conditions. Repair/replace error-detected parts.

CHECK THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE SIGNAL (2)

With CONSULT

  1. Select “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”, “Data monitor” and “Assist level” in this order. Values On The Diagnosis Tool.

  2. Stop the EPS system until the item becomes “99%”.

    NOTE:

    While stopping the EPS system, do not turn steering wheel.

  3. Check that the symptom continues.

Dose the symptom continue?

YES>>

Replace the power steering control module. Refer to EPS CONTROL UNIT : Removal & Installation.

NO>>

The assist torque decreases because of protection function. This is not malfunction. INSPECTION END

C161a-82 Abs System

  • CAN communication line

  • ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit)

  • Power steering control module

FAIL-SAFE

Constant steering assist level state

Confirmation Procedure

PRECONDITIONING

  1. Pull the parking brake switch.

    NOTE:

    Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.

  2. Power switch OFF.

  3. Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.

  4. Wait 65 seconds or more.

    NOTE:

    • Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.

    • If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake switch indicator on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

YES>>

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) SELF-DIAGNOSIS

With CONSULT

  1. Power switch OFF to ON.

  2. Perform self-diagnosis for "ABS".

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. DTC Index .

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK CONNECTOR AND TERMINAL

  1. Power switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

  3. Disconnect power steering control module harness connector.

  4. Check the connector for disconnection or looseness.

  5. Check the terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness, connector, or terminal, securely lock the connector.

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

With CONSULT

  1. Connect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

  2. Connect power steering control module harness connector.

  3. Power switch OFF to ON.

  4. Erase self-diagnostic results for “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”.

  5. Pull the parking brake switch.

    NOTE:

    Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.

  6. Power switch OFF.

  7. Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.

  8. Wait 65 seconds or more.

    NOTE:

    • Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.

    • If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake switch indicator on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

  9. Set the Nissan Ariya vehicle to READY.

    CAUTION:

    Never drive the vehicle.

  10. Perform self-diagnosis for “EPS/DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING 3”.

Is DTC “C161A-82” detected?

YES>>

Replace the power steering control module. Refer to EPS CONTROL UNIT : Removal & Installation.

NO>>

U0076-00 Can Comm Circuit

Eps Warning Lamp

Component Function Check

CHECK THE ILLUMINATION OF THE EPS WARNING LAMP

Check that the EPS warning lamp turns ON when power switch is placed ON. Then, EPS warning lamp turns OFF after the Nissan Ariya vehicle is READY state.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Perform trouble diagnosis. Refer to .Diagnosis Procedure

Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT

CONSULT

  1. Power switch OFF to ON.

  2. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “EPS/DAST 3”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK EPS WARNING LAMP SIGNAL

CONSULT

  1. Select “WARNING LAMP” in “Data Monitor” mode of “EPS/DAST 3”.

  2. Check that the item in “Data Monitor” is “On”.

  3. Set the Nissan Ariya vehicle to READY.

    CAUTION:

    Never drive the vehicle.

  4. Check that the item in “Data Monitor” is “Off”.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for combination meter power supply circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure .

NO>>

EPS control unit is malfunctioning. Replace EPS control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.
