Seat Belt Warning System

System Description

SYSTEM DIAGRAM

Component	Function
Seat belt buckle switch (driver side/passenger side)	Refer to Seat Belt Buckle Switch.
Rear seat belt buckle switch


Occupant detection system control unit	Occupant detection system control unit transmits the occupant detection signal to air bag diagnosis sensor unit.
Occupant detection system sensor	Occupant detection system sensor detects whether a person sits in the seat or not.
Air bag diagnosis sensor unit	Air bag diagnosis sensor unit transmits the seat belt buckle switch signal to combination meter via CAN communication.
Combination meter	Seat belt warning lamp turn ON and rear seat belt warning (information display) displays when any occupied seat and seat belt is unfastened. Seat belt warning (buzzer) sounds when the turn power switch ON or Nissan Ariya vehicle speed is more than approximately 15 km/h (9.3 MPH) and any occupied seat and seat belt is unfastened.
VCM	VCM transmits the Nissan Ariya vehicle speed display signal and shift position signal to combination meter via CAN communication.
BCM	BCM transmits the seat belt buckle switch signal to combination meter via CAN communication.
Meter speaker	Meter speaker operates when signal is received from combination meter.

SEAT BELT WARNING LAMP OPERATION

Seat belt warning lamp on combination meter turns ON during a period when power switch is turns ON until seat belts are fastened. Seat belt warning lamp turns OFF when seat belt is fastened. Seat belt warning lamp turns ON again when seat belt is unfastened.

SEAT BELT WARNING (BUZZER) OPERATION

Seat belt warning (buzzer) sounds for approximately 6 seconds when the power switch ON and seat belt (driver side) is unfastened.
Seat belt warning (buzzer) sounds for approximately 95 seconds when the Nissan Ariya vehicle speed is 15 km/h (9.3 MPH) or more when any occupied seat and seat belt is unfastened.

REAR SEAT BELT WARNING (INFORMATION DISPLAY) OPERATION

Rear seat belt warning (information display) displays during when power switch is turns ON while rear seat belt fastened to unfastened.

DESIGN/PURPOSE

Rear seat belt warning warns the driver that rear seat belt is not fastened.

SYSTEM DIAGRAM

SIGNAL PATH

When combination meter detects power switch ON, rear seat belt warning displays.
When combination meter judges according to received rear seat belt buckle switch signal that a rear seat belt is unfastened.

WARNING OPERATION CONDITION

When all of the following conditions are satisfied.

Power switch is ON and start up display finished.
Any rear seat belt buckle switch is unfastened.

Symbol	Color	Condition
	Red	Seat belt is unfastened.
	Green	Seat belt is fastened.

NOTE:

Seat belt status reset when vehicle speed 5 km/h (3.1 MPH) or less and door status is changed from any rear door open to close all rear door close.

WARNING CANCEL CONDITION

When any of the following conditions are satisfied.

When the all rear seat belt is fastened.
Pressed steering switch.
Power switch OFF.
Combination meter displays rear seat belt warning for 65 seconds when any of the following conditions are satisfied.
- Power switch OFF to ON when any rear seat belt is unfastened.
- Rear door is closed when any rear seat belt is unfastened.
When any rear seat belt is fastened to unfastened while power switch is ON, rear seat belt warning displays for 95 seconds.
